Financial aid for international students |-On-Campus jobs!
Most of the students who don't get an RA,GA or TA look out for on campus jobs.
The student can start an on-campus job as soon as he or she registers for class.
On campus jobs can range from working in the cafeteria, keeping books in the library to
tutoring undergraduate students. The student can work for a maximum of 20 hours per week and
the rates per hour depends on the kind of jobs he or she does. In the summer quarter the student
can take a break and work for 40 hours per week where they can make up some money for their
subsequent semesters.
Off-Campus jobs
Students who do not qualify for any form of assistantships take up an off-campus jobs.
An international student can work off campus only after nine months of stay in the USA.
They must work only in their field of study. Some student's work illegally in gas stations
and grocery shops to make the extra buck, but we strictly advice student not to do anything
illegal in the country since the laws are very strict and any violation could lead to deportation.
It is also advised to other students to take up intern ships and co-ops before they graduate since
this work experience could help the graduating student immensely when they begin looking out for
full time employment. The student has to be registered for course work during their co-op and
they cannot work for more than 40 hours/week for two semesters or quarters continuously.
